Posting a project to Retrobook
By making use of the Green Home Grant Voucher Scheme, you can conveniently use some of your vouchers to purchase professional and independent advice which will allow you to develop an appropriate and perfect plan for your home. Retrobook will then automatically assist you in finding a fully accredited designer, assessor or coordinator that is local to you or your business.
Green Homes Grant Vouchers
Residential landlords and homeowners are currently able to apply for Green Homes Grant Vouchers. These vouchers can be used for reducing the cost of installing improvements within your home that will improve energy efficiency. This may include insulating the home, reducing the energy use, or lowering the carbon dioxide production of the home.
Before you can use these vouchers with Retrobook, you must redeem the voucher and ensure that these improvements will have time to be completed before March 31st, 2021, as this is when the scheme will end.
Value of Green Homes Grant Vouchers
Your voucher will be eligible to cover two-thirds of the cost of any improvements, once they have been deemed appropriate. This will only cover a government contribution of up to £5000. However, you should be aware that if you or someone else in your household receives any particular benefits, you may be eligible for a voucher that will cover 100% of the cost for improvements, although the maximum value will always be £10,000. You can see if you are eligible for the low-income support scheme here.
Eligibility for Green Homes Grant Vouchers
If you live in England, you may be eligible for a GHG if:
• You own a home. This includes shared ownership and long-leaseholders.
• You own a park home on a residential site. This includes gypsy and traveller sites.
• You are a residential landlord in either the social or private rented sector. This includes housing associations and local authorities.
You should be aware that you cannot apply for the Green Homes Grant scheme if you are trying to improve a newly built home that has not yet been occupied by residents. However, this doesn’t stop you using Retrobook. You are still able to fill out our simple form, and complete your energy plan if you have one. A trusted professional who expresses an interest in your project will then be assigned to meet your needs.
How Green Home Vouchers can be used
Here at Retrobook, we can offer friendly and professional advice on how your energy and heating efficiency may best be improved in your home, and we recommend seeking this advice before using a share of your vouchers.
For home improvements, the voucher can be used for various measures, which are split into primary and secondary measures.
When using your voucher with Retrobook, the government states that your voucher must be used to install at least one of the listed primary measures in order to be eligible for use. These primary measures include:
• Solid walls, both internal and external
• Cavity walls
• Under-floor, both solid floors and suspended floors
• Flat roofs
• Pitched roofs
• Room in roofs
• Insulation for park homes
Low carbon heat
• Air source heat pumps
• Ground source heat pumps
• Solar thermals
• Biomass boilers
• Hybrid heat pumps
As long as you’ve informed Retrobook of just one of the above primary measures, it can also be used to cover the cost of any number of secondary measures. However, the cost of this must be the same or less than for the primary measures. Secondary measures include:
Windows and doors
• Draught proofing
• Double or triple glazing if replacing single glazing
• Secondary glazing if in addition to single glazing
• Energy-efficient replacement doors replacing any single-glazed or solid doors that were installed prior to 2002
Heating controls and insulation
• Hot water tank thermostats
• Hot water tank insulators
• Heating controls such as smart heating, zone controls, appliance thermostats and radiator valves
The vouchers will cover the cost of our labour, VAT and any materials that are needed. To start using the full benefits of your Green Homes Grant Vouchers, sign up to Retrobook today.
